WE'VE GOT ANSWERS! // This is here to help you answer some pretty big questions about the TEAM OC program and how we operate. Of course, if you have a question that isn't already up here, or you'd like someone to explain something further...give us a shout!

MEMBERSHIP/SCHEDULE ______________________________

CLUB LACROSSE - What's that?

Think ODP Soccer ... only LACROSSE! It's mainly meant to provide girls with more learning + playing opportunities outside of their MS + HS seasons. For those girls that might want to pursue lacrosse in college, it will provide resources and exposure as well.

Is TEAM OC right for me?

TEAM OC is for you if you live in Orange County (or surrounding areas) and love to play lacrosse! AAAAND, if you like learning from FANTASTIC role models, laughing with your peers and want to take your game to another level, TEAM OC is DEFINITELY for you!! Boo-yah!

What if I've never played LAX before?

We still luv ya! This will be a great place to LEARN. Don't be shy, don't be nervous ... just be ready to rock and to laugh ... a lot! Mostly, it's about being committed to the schedule - if you are, you will learn the game in no time!

How long does my TEAM OC membership last?

Your TEAM OC membership will ONLY be seasonal (FALL, WINTER + SUMMER). This makes it easier for scheduling, focus and making payments! NOTE: There are some stipulations here ... if you do the FALL season, you never have to "tryout" again (read more below). But, we want you to be committed, so your pay for the upcoming season ONLY.

What is the "membership year", then?

The membership year is how WE see YOU. Each membership year includes FALL, WINTER + SUMMER. Within those years, we categorize you by GRAD year and give your relevant resources associated to your GRAD year. Also, teams will be organized with GRAD year as the #1 priority. So, if you are a Sophomore in HS right now, you are a 2012. If you are a Freshmen, you are a 2013. And, so on ...

What's the difference between the FALL, WINTER + SUMMER seasons?

Each season will focus on different aspects of your game. During the FALL (8-10 weeks) we will focus on teaching the game. In the WINTER (4-6 weeks), we work on fine tuning skills. And, in the SUMMER (6-8 weeks), we play ... a lot to help build your BIG game!

So, can I pay for the entire membership year in full?

Why bother? We have developed this system to help you! Instead of looking at a yearlong committment, take it season by season!

Are tournaments included with my seasonal membership fee?

It depends. Most weasons will include a local tournament (or two) within the fee, which will be CLEARLY specified. We may also offer additional tournaments to additional fees. Tournaments included and offered as extra will vary season to season.

Why would I DO + PAY for extra events?

You GO to extra events becuase you want to get better, play more and/or get exposure to college campuses or coaches - it's up to you!
You PAY extra because we will still be providing coaching, administration, and organization for our teams to participate. We pass what you pay onto the tournament as they require player and/or team fees.

What is the TEAM OC coaching philosophy?

Our philosophy about teaching girls is all about confidence and self-esteem. Our coaches approach the game with a backbone of lacrosse expertise and a soul for helping girls believe they can be great. We are known for the way we coach the modern game, which certainly makes us qualified as teachers. But, our slogan YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE. SO, BE IT. is what qualifies us as leaders of awesomeness, role models of laughter, motivators of excitement and icons of fun.

ATTENDANCE/TRYOUTS______________________________

How important is attending everything?

VERY IMPORTANT! Before registering for the next season you MUST know that you are going to be able to attend MOST/ALL of the practices/events. We have to be able to field full teams in order to provide quality opportunities for everyone! Your teammates will be counting on you - and you on them!

Do I have to tryout for TEAM OC?

Yes! Starting in the FALL '10 we will be holding tryouts at the beginning of each season. After this tryout you will be placed on a team for the remainder of THAT season. When you are placed on a team, we take the committment seriously ... so do your teammates.

Do I have to tryout every season?

No, you do not have to tryout each season - only ONE time each membership year. However, teams will be determined at the beginning of each season, so your team could change. If the talent pool changes, you will be considered as a part of that growing pool.

Could I get cut?

When we say tryouts, we really mean TEAM PLACEMENT for the season. However, once the teams are full, we will have to make cuts based on performance. This is why committment is KEY.

If I get cut, can I re-tryout next season?

ABSO-FREAKIN-LUTELY! We encourage you to do that!!

COMMUNICATION/EXPECTATION______________________________

How do you communicate with the members?

The TEAM OC website is always up-to-date with information - ANY time of the day! We also use email a lot to send you event/practice announcements and information.

Can I get kicked out of TEAM OC?

YES. Like we said, ATTENDANCE is key! If you don't attend MOST/ALL of the events/practices during one season, we assume you won't the next season. It's about buidling trust and being reliable! Also, the usual - if you lie, cheat, steal or are caught smoking, drinking or using drugs at any TEAM OC event, you will be immediately removed without a refund.

How big are the teams?

Teams will have between 18-22 girls. Once again, ATTENDANCE is everything! We form these teams anticipating that we may have injuries or attendance issues.

What is expected out of me?

We expect that BEFORE you register you look at the schedule! Once you are a member we expect that you show up, attend the events we plan and HAVE FUN!! Of course, we always expect that you be honest with us - good or bad!

Are there playing opportunities outside of these seasons?

YES! Sometimes we will offer our TEAM OC members the opportunity to attend tournaments/camps with BOUNCE/XTEAM that occur outside of the local CA region. These events (and any events NOT listed on schedule) will be an additional cost.

BOUNCE/XTEAM______________________________

What is BOUNCE?

BOUNCE is the umbrella company that owns and operates TEAM OC. BOUNCE also owns 2 other club lacrosse teams in GA + CT. The BOUNCE main office is located in Brooklyn, NY. Fugghedabboudit.

What is XTEAM?

XTEAM is a national club lacrosse team for girls who are serious about pursuing lacrosse at the collegiate level.

Why are there so many girls from CA on XTEAM?

XTEAM focuses on providing girls from "non-traditional" areas with the same opportunities of being recruited to play lacrosse in college as girls from the traditional lax areas. All XTEAMers join knowing they want to pursue playing lacrosse in college and therefore our expectations of them are commensurate with that declaration. XTEAM girls and their families are committed to travel and gain exposure playing at big recruiting events as an integral part to achieving their goal of playing in college. Local XTEAMers from CA are expected to attend local practices and playdays with TEAM OC.
